Legacy Scholarship Fund, a scholarship awarded annually to a deserving student who is a child or grandchild of
a Buffalo State graduate.

To make an additional donation to our Legacy Scholarship Fund, please check the appropriate box on our
2008 Race Application
and submit with your payment. Please note the amount you wish to donate to the Legacy Scholarship Fund.
Race Details:
- 8:00 a.m. Registration (Lobby, Buckham Campus School)
- 9:30 a.m. Race Start (Rockwell Road)
- 10:00 a.m. Post-Race Bengal Brunch (Gym, Buckham Campus School)
Pre-Registration (by March 12, 2008 - US Funds Only):
- $18 General
- $16 Buffalo State Faculty, Staff or Alumnus
- $10 Student (any age - grade school, junior high, high school, college, university)

Pre-register with 10 or more students from your student organization,
residence hall, sports team, intramural team, etc., and receive a $2.00
discount per person (only $8.00 per person), along with being eligible to
win a special award for the student group with the largest number of participants.

Pre-register with a "team" of 10 or more Buffalo State Faculty/Staff members
and receive a $2 discount per race participant ($14), along with being eligible
to win special awards for the "team" with the fastest overall time (based on
the top five finishers) and the "team" with the largest number of participants.

* * NEW * * Pre-Race Packet Pick-Up:

A Pre-Race Packet Pick-Up (race t-shirt, bib number and race bag) will be available this
year on Friday, March 14, from 5-7 p.m., in the Buckham Campus School Lobby; Free parking
is available on the Buffalo State campus in Lot L.
Post-Registration (after March 12, 2008 - US Funds Only):
- $22 General
- $20 Buffalo State Faculty, Staff or Alumnus
- $12 Student
Queen City Triple Crown:
-
Queen City Triple Crown awards will be given at the Shoes for the Shelter race
based on cumulative times earned through participation in the Chilly Challenge
5K on February 24, the Bengal 5K on March 15 and the Shoes for the Shelter 5K on April 6.
Champion Chip Timing (by Score-This):
- You'll receive a computer chip that corresponds to your bib number.
- All chips will be removed by finish line volunteers.
- If you fail to return your chip, you'll be charged $30.
- Chips available for pick-up on race day only.

be available online at

- Top overall male/female finisher
- Age Categories
- The top three male and female finishers are eligible for the following awards by age groups:
- 14 & Under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 & Over
- No duplicate awards.
- Special
- Top male/female Buffalo State student finishers
- Top male/female Buffalo State alumnus/alumna finishers
- Top male/female Buffalo State Faculty or Staff finishers
- Student group with the largest number of participants (runners/walkers)
- Student group with the largest number of volunteers
- Faculty/Staff team with the fastest overall time (based on the top five finishers)
- Faculty/Staff team with the largest number of participants (runners, walkers and volunteers)

A variety of food and refreshments will be served (we are known for our "popular" post-race
celebration) and some fabulous door prizes will be given away!!
- Family and friends can attend the brunch; $5.00 at the door.

Mister Goodbar and Flying Bison Brewing Company (owned by Buffalo State graduate Tim
Herzog '81) have teamed up to sponsor a post-post-race party following the Post-Race
Bengal Brunch.

Present a special "drink coupon" included in your race bag for "free beer" at Mister
Goodbar, featuring Flying Bison Blizzard Bock (while supplies last).
- Must be 21 or over; Proper ID required.
- The post-post-race party starts at 11:30 a.m. and lasts until the beer is gone.
T-Shirts:
- Designer Race T-Shirts will be given to the first 450 registrants.

10 Years Running and Walking to a Successful Finish:
The 2007 Bengal 5K Breaks ALL Records!!!

A record turnout of 560 runners/walkers and 117 volunteers
braved the elements on March 24, 2007, in support of the
10th Annual Bengal 5K Run & Fun Walk, sponsored by the
Buffalo State College Alumni Association! What prompted this
amazing show of Bengal spirit? The reasons are many!!
- A legacy of 10 years and running for this great event

Holding the race in memory of Dr. Carmine A. Grande, Race Founder and
Former Vice President, Institutional Advancement

Incredible alumni support as demonstrated by class of ’83 graduate Mayor
Brown firing the starting gun and Claudine Ewing, ’92, emceeing the
Post-Race Bengal Brunch
- Heart-warming support for a worthy cause
- The emergence of the Queen City Triple Crown race series
- Lots of fabulous prizes, designer t-shirts, camaraderie and exercise
- Wide array of food and refreshments at the Post-Race Bengal Brunch
- Fast and Flat 5K (3.1 mile) certified course

Proceeds from this event brought in more than $9,000 (yet another record)
for our Legacy Scholarship Fund, a scholarship awarded annually to a deserving
Buffalo State student who is the child or grandchild of a graduate!

Campus community involvement also increased this year, with 85 alumni, 53
faculty/staff, and 113 students participating as runners, walkers and volunteers,
along with 3 faculty/staff teams and 5 student groups registering for this event!
Buffalo State students comprised 50% of our total volunteer participation!!!
